The Magic City Grill Fest is a culinary competition and barbecue festival for enthusiasts of high-quality barbecue.  The Magic City Grill Fest features various barbecue techniques utilizing charcoal briquettes, lump charcoal and hardwood over an open flame.   Teams utilize various styles of grills and smokers including classic Weber Grills, kamado-style grills like the Big Green Egg or Kamado Joe, barrel smokers, and cooking over a hardwood open flame.  The cooking techniques are as varied as the foods they prepare.  Teams compete in four unique categories of ribs, chicken, wagyu beef sliders or an open category.  Teams of no more than four cooks will compete in each of the rounds.  For a small entry fee, "tasters" enjoy samples from each team in each round of the competition.  Entries are reviewed by a panel of esteemed culinary judges.  The best entries win prizes, trophies and bragging rights.
